Maya Roos’ latest work, “Speed Disk paintings”, consists of a horizontal arrangement of surfaces coloured in pink, beige, green, brown, white and turquoise. It refers to the display method developed by Norton to visualise a computer?s status using the Norton Speed Disk computer utility. In the optimised status the colour surfaces are neatly separated from one another. Like a classical panel painting a portrait by Speed Disk can be interpreted as the visualisation of an individual, a representative portrait of the person who commissioned it. (Kathrin Becker)
