Ed. by Dorothea Strauss. Published alongside the exhibition “Jakob Bill. A Retrospective” at Haus Konstrukiv, Zurich (13.12.2012–17.2.2013). Essays by Marlene Lauter and Sanford Wurmfeld. With an interview with Jakob Bill.

The paintings of Jakob Bill (b. 1942) are often made up of two different systems: one is the formal matrix and the other consists of colors that are isolated from the complex spectrum and transformed along the basic fabric of the picture. The son of the Swiss architect, designer and artist Max Bill deliberately eschews the use of three dimensions and concentrates wholly on the medium of painting. The book pays tribute to a complex body of work that has developed along a consistent path from the late 1950s to today.
