Ed. by Roland Angst. An influential conceptual photographer since the 1960s, Kenneth Josephson (b. 1932) uses his work to call attention to the physical act of photography. For instance, Josephson has employed techniques such as layering photographs within photographs in order to pinpoint degrees of both truthfulness and illusion within the medium. Influenced by photography innovators Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind, Josephson examines the intricacies of photography in the context of artistic practice in his work. The comprehensive monograph Selected Photographs on Kenneth Josephson is the first outside the USA. This book is past overdue, as all of his earlier books are out of print since quite some time. Within around 20 years as a Professor at the Art Institute of Design he formed a generation of photographers in the States.
The book design was done in close collaboration with Roland Angst.
